Blackjack Rule Variants
It is interesting to note that there are a number of Blackjack rule variants which might affect the way you play. These are not difficult to learn and are always addressed in the rules of any online blackjack game you play. Always check these out, if you don't you might play the wrong game and doing this will only make you lose.
You may be concerned about playing a different game of blackjack online, to the game you may have become used to at a land-based casino. The benefit playing online is that you can always check the rules and even practice in free-play.
For example you may find the "Dealer stands hard on 17" rule change to a "soft stand" on 17. In the
classic game of blackjack, the dealer always stands hard on 17. When the dealer "stands soft on 17" they need to have 17 or higher and an ace in the hand. This rule is more advantageous to the player, than if the dealer "hits" on soft 17, as this hit rule increases the house edge slightly. The Soft hit rule generally only pertains to Blackjack switch, but it allows the dealer to draw another card if they have a soft 17, this increases the house edge by approximately 0.2%.
Doubling, if it is allowed, is one of the best options for a player, it is able to increase the profit they make quite substantially. Some casinos allow this, while others strictly forbid it. If you can find an
online casino which allows doubling, and you are a blackjack player, you have found the right casino.
