The game is played with a traditional 5 card deck and this is shuffled after every hand is played. The aim of the game is to finish up with the strongest poker hand possible. Bearing in mind that only three cards are dealt in the "Pairs Plus" game these are the potential payouts:

It does not matter what the deal holds in terms of cards, the player is paid these odds, on their wager, for these specific card combinations. Players are able to place this bet without making an "Ante" wager.

The "Ante" is the second game in 3 Card Poker Gold, and it has different pay tables. The dealer has to qualify by getting a Queen high or better hand and if he doesn't the player wins his "Play" (odds at 1 to 1) bet and double his "Ante". If the dealer does qualify then the player with the highest value wins. In order of importance these hands are:
