Placing Roulette Wagers and the House Advantage
Any
casino table game has its own special wagering requirements and there is always a house edge, this is how a casino makes its money. Playing roulette allows for a huge variety of wagers, and this is what makes it a random number game, yet so interesting and exciting to play.
All the numbers on the roulette wheel are fair game for the gambler, including the zero. They can place wagers on single numbers, split numbers, black, red, odds even, in which section of numbers the ball will drop and variations of these wagers.
The house advantage on a zero, when it is a single zero game (European or French roulette), is 2.7%, on a double zero roulette table, this increases to 5.26%, so you can see why it might be better to play the
European version of the game, the odds are better and the houses share is less.
Essentially the house edge is the expected value based on the odds being offered for winning. On a single number if you win 37 - 1, the house keeps your initial dollar and pays you the $37.
Play roulette and you will see how it works.
