Australians are big time gamblers
In Victoria, Australia, gamblers lost more than $4.5 billion on the poker machines at the state's pubs and clubs and at Crown Casino's gaming tables over the past year.
Gambling has been an inherent part of Australian culture from the beginning of European settlement. In the beginning it was horse-racing, then lotteries, then 'poker machines' in Sydney, New South Wales, in the 1950s and now, all known forms of gambling seem to be available.
Australians have always been gamblers and about one dollar in every thirty is spent on gambling!
